Community Hearing hosted by OSD
Thursday February 29th community hearing hosted by OSD school board.
6:00pm-8:00pm McKenny multipurpose room (gym/cafeteria) or on zoom.
The school board will be accepting public comment during this meeting in regards to the possible closure of McKenny Elementary.
Movie Night - Finding Dory
Mark your calendars for the next movie night featuring Finding Dory, Friday January 26th, doors open at 6:15pm!
The cost is $5 for the first student and $4 for each additional student.
Movie night is open to all current McKenny students Pre-K through 5th grade.
An adult is required to stay with Pre-K and Kindergarten students for the duration of the movie.
January PTO Meeting
Join us in a meeting with Director Maria Flores.
Director Flores is coming to hear from our community and share some insight into the board’s decision of opening the 90 day window for considering closure/consolidation.
This is a great opportunity to give feedback to the school board about what matters to you!

McKenny Strong! Join us tonight for a crucial discussion on our school's future.
The recent board decision to explore the closure of McKenny Elementary has sparked questions and concerns. To address these head-on, we're holding a special meeting Tuesday, December 19th at 6:30 PM in the school library.
PTO Leadership and school staff will co-host this open forum for discussion, problem-solving, and strategizing together. Let's hear each other's voices, share ideas, and explore ways to keep McKenny Elementary open.
Can't make it in person? No worries! Join us virtually via Zoom.

Movie Night: Sonic the Hedgehog
When: Friday Nov 17th. Doors open at 6:16 pm. Pickup at 8:15 pm.
Where: McKenny Elementary School
Cost: $5 for first student, $4 for each additional student.
Please register online by 12pm Friday November 17th.
Students are welcome to wear PJs and to bring a pillow and blanket. Intermission will include popcorn, juice box, and a small snack item.
For the safety of our students you will need to come inside to sign your student in and out. This event is only for students currently attending McKenny Elementary. This is a drop off event for all grades except Kindergarten and Preschool.
If you’d like to volunteer to enable the PTO to continue hosting events like movie night please reach out to volunteer@mckennypto.org.
Read-a-thon
The annual Read-A-Thon begins this Saturday, October 28th. Read-A-Thon challenges students to raise funds for their school without selling anything, all they have to do is read! The Read-A-Thon is sponsored by the McKenny PTO and promotes our school’s goal for all students to develop a love for reading.
The money collected from will be used to support our school in the following ways:
New, inclusive, and diverse library books for the school library
Software licenses for interactive learning modules to support students’ learning experiences in the classroom
McKenny Running Club
And so much more!
Each student will get a pencil and mini “I Love Reading” button regardless of participation level.
As additional incentive to sign up early, all children who sign up before October 29th will be entered into a drawing for a $20 Humble Cow gift card.
Trunk or Treat
Calling all ghouls and goblins! Trunk or Treat is coming to McKenny Elementary School on Friday, October 27th from 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM!
This event will be held rain or shine!
Here's what you can expect at Trunk or Treat:
Candy galore! All the trunks will be stocked with delicious treats for trick-or-treaters of all ages.
Trunk decorating contest! Vote for your favorite decorated trunk and help decide the winner!
Book fair! Browse the book fair and find some great reads for Halloween or any other time of year.
Photo opportunities! Strike a pose and commemorate your costumes and this fun event.
And more!
So mark your calendars and join us for a spooktacular time at Trunk or Treat! Don't forget to dress up in your favorite costume! We can't wait to see you there!

Gifts for performers will be available for purchase, as well as concessions for your enjoyment.
