READ-A-THON
Reading Takes You Places!
We're aiming to raise $7,000 to support our school and library! Let's make this happen together!
Let's read, raise funds, and celebrate our love of books!
October 17–30, 2026
Let’s celebrate the places reading can take us! Our annual Readathon inspires a love of reading while raising funds for the McKenny Elementary PTO. Donations support community events, teachers and staff, and programs that enrich our students’ school experience.
Students earn prizes just for reading—and can earn every prize along the way!
How to Participate
1. Register your student
Visit bit.ly/2026read and select “Add Participant” (near the bottom of the page) to create your student’s tracking page.
2. Share your student’s donation page
After registration, 99Pledges will email you a personal donation page to share with family and friends. Supporters can give a flat donation or pledge an amount per minute read. Every donation is appreciated!
3. Read and log minutes
Beginning October 17, track your student’s reading minutes daily. Open the management page—the second link in your registration email—and select the “Track” tab to enter minutes.
Submit all reading minutes by midnight on October 30 to qualify for prizes.
Reading Prizes
Students earn prizes as they reach each reading milestone (subject to change):
60 minutes: Notebook and pen
250 minutes: Reading timer
500 minutes: Squishy toy
1,000 minutes: Reading light
1,500 minutes: Blanket
2,500 minutes: Mystery large stuffy!
Prizes will be awarded throughout the event. Students can earn every prize—not just one!
Classroom Prizes
The classroom with the most reading minutes in each grade group—K–2 and 3–5—will win their choice of a board game party or a glowstick party.
Help Us Reach Our $7,000 Goal!
If we reach our schoolwide fundraising goal of $7,000, we’ll celebrate with a special reward:
The top K–2 reader will get to pie Ms. Swedberg in the face at lunch!
The top grade 3–5 reader will get to pie Mr. Havens in the face at lunch!
